Otis Rush wins a Grammy
Otis Rush won a long coveted Grammy for best
traditional blues album. The album, "Any Place I'm Going", has Rush calling
it the best thing he's ever done. "Before, the other guys were running the show, and
this time I was able to do what I wanted to do,'' Rush said.
Rush was up for a Grammy in 1994 but lost out to Eric Clapton.
After struggling for years with record
companies and personal problems Rush seems to be back on track. Rush talked of why the
blues endures-"Everybody got some blues, just like everybody got a little Jesus in
'em and a little Satan. Which one you want to set loose?'' As for his own blues he
says "I'm getting older, slower, but I need speed -- that's the blues.''
